Should a bath precede mat removal in cats?

Actually you aren't supposed to wash before combing out or shaving, since it makes the mats worse. Just keep him a little stinky. If you bathe him, the mats will be worse so when your cat is shaved, the mats will pull harder and would hurt. You are always supposed to brush BEFORE bathing-thats what vets and day cares are supposed to do. Hope I helped :)
