Would moth balls make a good substitute for sulfur as a snake repellent?

I want to keep snakes off my property and don't want to use sulfur as it gives off a strong offensive odor. I don't want my neighbors complaining about the stench.I was wondering if moth balls would do the trick. Can anyone offer some suggestions for snake repellents other than sulfur? Thanks.
